Bennett Optical Research, Inc. (BOR) is the creation of Dr. Harold E. (Hal) Bennett, an Optical Physicist, encouraged by his wife, Dorothy Bennett. BOR's incorporation followed Hal's resignation from the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) at China Lake, California in 1995. In August of 1995 the Bennetts began to hire technical experts, many of whom came from NAWCWD. President and Chariman of the Board, Harold and Dorothy Bennett, holds 100% of the company stock. Throughout its history Bennett Optical Research, Inc. has won and managed over a million dollars of grant and contract funding. As a member of the California Space Authority, BOR has received state funding in the form of competitive grants from the Western Commercial Space Center and the California Space Technology Alliance. |

Most recently, funding was received from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in Phase I and Phase II contracts. BOR is now completing the second year of its Phase II contract to make large adaptive optics.
The technology being developed here is of interest to both the astronomical community and to the Department of Defense. BOR has developed a unique facility in a niche market which is capable of catering to the most demanding requests of the optics community. |
